What to expect when attending for a REIKI treatment with TJReiki
The first time you attend for a REIKI treatment, Terry will explain how the session will be conducted, and make sure that you are entirely comfortable with what is going to happen during the next hour or so. He will put you at ease and try to answer any questions or concerns that you may have, and alleviate any anxieties. The whole process is unhurried and very relaxed, and not governed by the clock.
You will be made to feel very welcome, and hopefully within the first five minutes or so, you will feel totally at ease. You will be asked to provide (if you have not already done so) some brief personal details that will be kept absolutely private and confidential. This will include your name, address, date of birth, contact telephone numbers as well as a brief history of any medical conditions you have, and symptoms that you are currently experiencing. You will also be asked what you are expecting from the REIKI treatment.
You may be suffering from a physical problem such as aches and pains, you may be recovering from a recent operation, you may be feeling tired and stressed, maybe even depressed. You may not be sleeping very well, or may just be anxious about a situation in your life, you may be going for that all important job interview or taking important exams in the near future and would like to feel more confident about it…the list is endless.
There are no guarantees that REIKI will cure your symptoms or banish them completely (it is vitally important that if you are under the care of a medical professional that you continue with any treatment that (S)he advises – REIKI is NOT a replacement for conventional medicine and medical treatment, and should be seen as a complimentary to this).
What is guaranteed is that you will receive some benefits from REIKI, although these benefits may not always at first be apparent.
Once all of the information has been gathered and all of your questions have been answered as fully as possible, you will be asked to remove your shoes, and possibly your belt for your own comfort during the treatment. It is usual to remain fully clothed throughout the whole treatment. It is important that you are as relaxed as possible, and therefore, your comfort is paramount.
You will then be asked to lay down on the treatment couch on your back and to make yourself comfortable. ( If you are unable to lay on your back due to pain or any other problem, then it is possible to perform the treatments whilst you are seated, laid on your side, or on your front). Terry will then demonstrate to you a few hand positions that will be used throughout the treatment, so that you know exactly what to expect. There will be no pressure placed upon your body from his hands, only feather light touches, and in some instances during the treatment his hands will not touch you at all, but will simply hover an inch or two above your body, channelling the energy into where it is needed the most.
There will be aromatherapy oils or incense burning as well as soft, gentle, soothing music being played in the background. This helps to create a very relaxed atmosphere and to ensure that you are more receptive to the energy. The treatments are carried out in silence and your eyes should remain closed throughout.
Once you are relaxed, the practitioner connects to the REIKI energy. The treatment will then begin. This will consist of you feeling a feather light touch on both of your shoulders to begin with, and then at various points over your body, mainly the shoulders, crown of your head, your temples, your forehead, the back of your head and neck, the front of your neck area, your heart area, your tummy, hips, thighs, knees calves and ankles. The time that the hands remain in one position will vary depending upon your need at the time. It is usual for the hands to remain on the shoulders for the first six to nine minutes and then change at approximately three minute intervals.
Once the treatment comes to an end, you will feel a light tap you on your shoulder, and be asked to bring yourself round slowly. Over the course of the next few minutes you will be asked to sit up slowly and gently, as well as being asked to drink a glass of cool refreshing water. You will also be advised to drink plenty of water over the next 24 to 48 hours to ensure that any remaining negative energies are flushed out of your body.
An important part of the treatment is to provide feedback on what you felt and experienced during your treatment. This will be recorded as part of your treatment record and be used as a measure of progress throughout any subsequent treatments that you may wish to have. This will enable you to see as well as feel a tangible difference.
You will then be advised if it would be beneficial to book further treatment sessions, although this is entirely at your own discretion, and there is absolutely no pressure to do so.
You will be telephoned either later the same evening or the evening following your treatment to ensure that you feel fine and also to answer any further questions that you may have.
